Guangxi Telecom chooses EVA-PDA system to protect IPTV business quality

In December 2014, Guangxi Telecom Provincial Company equipped a number of EVA-PDA handheld meters for various Prefecture and city companies as a test tool for troubleshooting IPTV. In the provincial company network management center, a set of PDA center management platform and a professional version of EVA video analyzer software were deployed. The usage mode of EVA-PDA system is as follows:

(1) Local maintainers can connect EVA-PDA instruments in series with set-top boxes and home gateways for pcap packet capture analysis. The instruments can test various IPTV user experience (QoE) and service quality (QoS) indicators in real time, and quickly diagnose typical IPTV program sources, video servers, IP bearer network faults, and give expert system hints.

(2) For difficult IPTV faults, city maintenance personnel can upload IPTV test indicators, warning events and original pcap packet capture files to PDA central management platform of provincial companies. Provincial NOC maintainers can view the uploaded data on the PDA central management platform, and start the professional version of EVA video analyzer to play back the pcap packet capture files, so as to further diagnose and analyze the fault.

(3) For occasional IPTV faults (such as mosaics and cartons sometimes occur when users complain, but the problem can not be reproduced when the maintainer is on the spot), the maintainer can activate the alarm trigger packet grabbing function in the PDA instrument, and put the instrument on the user’s site, and then retrieve the instrument after a period of time (such as 24 hours). The instrument can record the pcap data when the fault occurs, and then analyze the pcap file of the fault point in detail by the professional EVA software.
